Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Protective Services professional to patrol the Cleveland campus, deter crime, respond to calls, and conduct investigations. The role requires handling evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports.

You will enforce laws, provide court testimony, and ensure PHI safety, with a focus on readiness for critical incidents. Requires Ohio Peace Officer credentials, firearms and defensive tactics training, and the ability to work independently with

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of police service practices and applicable laws.
• Training in firearms, defensive tactics and less-lethal options.
• Familiarity with LEADS, domestic violence updates and legal updates.
• Ability to protect constitutional rights and operate department equipment.
• Strong report writing, documentation and testimony skills.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the hospital campus to deter and detect criminal activity and respond to calls for service.
• Investigates crimes by interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence and processing scenes.
• Enforces laws by arrest or non-arrest dispositions and testifies in court.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive crime and incident reports.
• Handle prisoners, including booking and transportation; maintain readiness for incidents.
• Respond to special attention requests and uphold PHI safety and UH policies.
