Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a Research Associate to support a Multimedia Informed Consent Intervention study conducted across Michigan. The RA will recruit participants at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing and collect survey data using RedCap on a study tablet.

This part-time position (up to 32 hours/week) involves identifying eligible patients, obtaining consent, logging gift cards, and coordinating with the Research Coordinator and Director to ensure adherence to protocols and regulatory

Qualifications

• Minimum one year research or clinical experience.
• Background and interest in public health and genetics.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Available transportation to participate in Sparrow Hospital.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the job as part of a team.
• This position does not involve patient care.

Responsibilities

• Identify, engage, and approach potential study participants within the newborn unit at University of Michigan-Sparrow Health System.
• Clearly explain the study's purpose and procedures to eligible individuals.
• Work with hospital staff to determine the best times to approach patients.
• Screen and assess patients for eligibility based on predefined criteria.
• Complete the verbal consent process for eligible participants.
• Maintain adherence to study protocols, ethics, and regulatory requirements.
• Collect survey data on the provided tablet using RedCap.
• Provide gift cards to patients and log distributions.
• Consult with the Research Coordinator and Research Director weekly.
• Interact with subjects in a clinical setting and conduct stakeholder interviews.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
