Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License and Current Auto Insurance
• Ability to successfully pass pre-employment driver record, criminal, adult and child abuse background check/review required

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Performing critical and fundamental tasks essential to the volunteer role to accomplish the job's purpose and objectives.
• Assisting team with patient care in accordance with the plan of care.
• Providing needed services to patients and families as outlined in the Hospice Volunteer Handbook (e.g., companionship, shopping, respite, etc.).
• Committing 2-4 hours weekly as schedule permits.
• Notifying the team when a substitute is needed.
• Using listening skills effectively to offer emotional support to patients and families.
• Reporting and recording any changes in the patient's condition or environment to the appropriate team member.
• Maintaining accurate, timely, and objective documentation of volunteer activities.
• Submitting annual mandatory paperwork to maintain active volunteer status.
• Attending scheduled rehearsals and bedside or community presentations as applicable.
• Demonstrating competency and attending educational in-services and workshops as schedule permits.
• Integrating VNAHSR's HEALTH Matters values into all volunteer activities.
