Job summary

Bristol Hospital Group in Bristol, CT, seeks a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers delivering compassionate support to patients and families. You will serve as the main liaison between volunteers, hospice staff, patients, families, and community organizations, promoting engagement.

Essential duties include recruitment, orientation, ongoing training, volunteer scheduling, conflict resolution, and maintaining compliance with Medicare and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Services, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Communications, or related field.
• Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered.
• Two or more years in volunteer coordination, outreach, healthcare, hospice, nonprofit, or HR preferred.
• Experience working with volunteers strongly preferred.
• Hospice or home care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, train, schedule, and supervise hospice volunteers.
• Represent the organization at community events and volunteer fairs.
• Conduct interviews, background checks, and onboarding for volunteers.
• Coordinate orientation and ongoing education for volunteers.
• Match volunteers with patients and families and monitor performance.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, state, and organizational standards.
• Maintain volunteer files, hours, and annual education documentation.
