Job summary

Good Shepherd Hospice seeks a compassionate Social Worker to serve patients and families in Salina and surrounding communities. The role provides medical social services per the interdisciplinary Plan of Care.

The position requires MSW or accredited social work degree, KS licensure, and ability to collaborate within an Interdisciplinary team, with emphasis on confidentiality and timely documentation.

Qualifications

• MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
• BSW degree and supervision by an MSW.
• BA/BS in psychology, sociology, or related field with MSW supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician and care team in understanding social and emotional factors affecting the patient’s health problems.
• Assess social and emotional factors within 5 days of admission to gauge capacity and coping for daily living and terminal illness.
• Help patient and family understand and follow medical recommendations and services planned to aid social and health adjustment.
• Utilize community resources and agencies to support patient and family within illness limits.
• Observe, document, and report social and emotional changes.
• Document all services in the patient’s clinical record.

Education

MSW degree (CSWE-accredited)

BSW degree supervised by MSW

BA/BS in psychology or sociology supervised by MSW
