Executive Director Responsibilities

As an Executive Director, you will report directly to our Assistant Vice President of Operations. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of your assigned hospice location. The Executive Director oversees the coordination of patient admissions to Hospice Services in a smooth, systematic process, as well as arranging for ancillary services to complement care. Additionally, you will oversee the direction, supervision, and evaluation of hospice personnel and volunteers, coordinate services among team members, and maintain ongoing communication with leadership.

• Demonstrates a commitment to excellence through focusing on quality care and/or service.
• Incorporates continuous quality improvement principles in daily activities.
• Promotes and monitors compliance with standards established by accrediting, licensing, regulatory agencies, and relevant laws.
• Recommends and implements policies and procedures.
• Manages Human Resources effectively, promoting positive communication, staff meetings, and ongoing training.
• Responsible for the selection, supervision, and evaluation of interdisciplinary team members.
• Manages teams to meet performance goals, reviews progress regularly, and redirects efforts as needed.
• Ensures fair workload distribution based on personal abilities and limitations.
• Plans and organizes office operations to achieve strategic goals.
• Ensures accurate and timely documentation of services.
• Monitors quality of patient care, processes emergency calls, and may perform routine patient visits or participate in on-call schedules (if RN).
• Collaborates with physicians, patients, families, and staff to address issues and needs.
• Supervises and evaluates family satisfaction surveys in collaboration with the Administrator.
• Manages financial resources prudently, completes financial reviews, and monitors budgets and expenses.

About You

• Education:

• Registered Nurse with minimum of Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Master’s degree in business, nursing, or related field preferred.

• Experience:

• Minimum one year management/supervisory experience required.
• Two or more years in hospice/home care required (including roles like Clinical Director, Hospice Director, DON, RN Administrator, or Executive Director).
• Three years’ experience in direct patient care preferred.
• Three to five years healthcare sales/management experience preferred.

• Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registration:

• Current nursing license in the state of employment.
• CPR Certification.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.

• Equipment/Tools/Work-Aids: Must operate computers, fax, copier, and cell phone effectively. Must have reliable transportation.
