WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a home care RN, you will ensure hospice patients are comfortable while forging compassionate, meaningful connections. This important work comes with significant responsibility. Patients and families trust VITAS RNs to guide them through one of life's most difficult experiences, and honoring that trust will be your highest priority.

You will be a respected team member, both as a caregiver and as a hospice educator. You will have the autonomy to make care decisions at the bedside, ensuring no moment is wasted in bringing comfort to your patients. You will help patients and their loved ones understand and embrace the palliative, rather than curative, nature of hospice and the benefits of comfort-focused end-of-life care.

WHERE YOU'LL WORK

Each day varies for our home care RNs. You will primarily care for hospice patients in their homes, ALFs, nursing homes, hospitals, or medical facilities, adjusting your schedule based on their needs. The number of visits may vary, but on average, it is 4 to 6 per day.

About once a week, you'll visit the office to meet with your interdisciplinary team—including social workers, physicians, chaplains, and nurses—who work together to provide whole-person support for our patients and families.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE REGISTERED NURSE, RN

1. Currently licensed to practice nursing in Texas, where the VITAS program is located.
2. A minimum of two years' experience in hospice, home health, community health, or hospital setting.
3. Equivalent experience or licensure may be considered.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Registered Nurse (RN) with reliable transportation and adequate insurance coverage for driver and passengers.
