Job summary

Shalom Hospice of Washington is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse to cover after-hours shifts (Fri 5p–8a, Sat & Sun 8p–8a). You will respond to patient census and family inquiries after hours, assess patients, manage pain and symptoms, and coordinate with the medical team to ensure high-quality hospice care in home settings.

Ideal candidates have an active WA RN license, experience in hospice or home care, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Maintains current unencumbered RN license in WA.
• Experience in hospice/home care desirable.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently during after-hours shifts.

Responsibilities

• Responds to hospice patient census and family inquiries after hours.
• Performs urgent physical and psychosocial assessments and interventions.
• Manages pain and symptoms; provides evidence-based nursing care.
• Documents care thoroughly and timely.
• Collaborates with physicians and IDG to ensure continuity of care.
• Coordinates with vendors for DME, supplies, and meds after hours.
• Participates in mandatory meetings and ongoing education.
• Maintains safe environment and provides patient and family education.
