Job summary

OPCO Skilled Management is seeking a Director of Nursing (RN) for hospice with leadership experience to oversee patient care and clinical operations. The role ensures quality of care, staffing, and coordination with the interdisciplinary team in a high-demand hospice environment.

Ideal candidates have RN licensure in the state, a nursing degree, and at least one year of hospice RNCM experience; management experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license in state or NCL-compliant license.
• Graduate of Diploma/ADN/BSN nursing program.
• At least 1 year hospice RNCM experience; management experience preferred.
• Strong communication and English literacy; ability to read, write and comprehend English; Hepatitis profile if required.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates clinical departments and sites, assumes responsibility for continuity, quality, and safety of services delivered in compliance with State and Federal regulations. (Conditions of Participation)
• Promotes the philosophy and administrative policies of the Agency, in an effort to ensure quality of patient care
• Supervises and provides direction to subordinates, in an effort to ensure quality, compliance with Plan of Care, assessment and reassessment of patient’s needs and continuity of services by appropriate health care personnel
• Monitors QA/PI Program and assures appropriate corrective measures are performed
• Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance as necessary
• Director is a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and assist in development of the IDT plan and participates in QA/PI activities
• Meets mandatory continuing education requirements of the agency/licensing board
• Promotes and educates regarding the concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease
• Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills; facilitates the use of these skills by other team members to achieve desirable outcomes
• Ability to travel to sites for patient care as required; some exposure to unpleasant weather; PRN emergency call, including death pronouncement
• Must be available at all times either in person or via telecommunications
