The Hospice Nurse Manager manages the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care for patients at home, establishes clinical direction, provides clinical supervision, maintains quality outcomes, oversees all aspects of personnel management and development, ensures adherence to regulatory standards, coordinates department operations with other departments, and develops and monitors the budget.

Schedule

A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with a weekend rotation occurring every 6th weekend and after-hours on-call.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on the assigned department.
  • Establish clinical direction for nursing care delivery and provide clinical supervision while maintaining quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with liaison departments to maintain patient care standards, identify and resolve issues affecting patient care services.
  • Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
  • Develop and maintain patient care standards through continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain Joint Commission and other regulatory standards, including but not limited to Medicare Conditions of Participation.
  • Oversee documentation accuracy.
  • Manage operation of the department.
  • Analyze personnel structure, determine staffing needs and mix.
  • Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes, and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in the development of the orientation program and hold all staff accountable for responsibilities as identified by their job description.
  • Oversee orientation of new personnel.
  • Hold staff accountable for completion of mandatory yearly requirements.
  • Actively promote staff and self-development.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the budget.
  • Participate in departmental committees/projects as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current licensure as an RN in the State of Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s license upon hire; thereafter per policy 8-175
  • Proof of automobile insurance coverage with $100,000/$300,000 coverage upon hire; thereafter per policy 8-175
  • Three years of recent nursing clinical experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Previous experience in a home health or hospice setting
Physical Requirements
  • Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Requires corrective vision and hearing within normal range.
  • May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly (constant: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
