Job summary

Ecumen Hospice in North Branch is seeking a skilled Massage Therapist for a part-time role. You will provide massage therapy under the Clinical Director, aligned with each patient’s plan of care, to improve comfort and quality of life in the hospice setting.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, delivering gentle techniques, documenting sessions within 24 hours, and educating the clinical team on contraindications. Local travel is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of clinical massage therapy experience.
  • Completion of a massage therapy certification course.
  • Preferred: National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients for appropriate medical indication and signs of therapy effectiveness.
  • Directs and assists patients through massage therapy interventions for comfort and symptom relief.
  • Performs gentle techniques to promote relaxation using slow strokes and comfort touch; addresses distress and pain.
  • Maintains session records and clinical notes within 24 hours; coordinates notes into patient records.
  • Provides education to the clinical team on treatment appropriateness and contraindications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hospice Massage Therapist | Part-Time - 48hrs bi-weekly | Weekdays only | North Branch Territory.

The Massage Therapist position is responsible for providing massage therapy services under the direction of the Clinical Director according to the hospice patient's unique plan of care.

Opportunity Details:
  • Schedule: Part-Time. 48 scheduled hours every 2 weeks - every other Tuesday required.
  • Pay: The targeted pay range for this job is $27.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Assesses patients for appropriate medical indication for service and performs assessment to determine effectiveness of therapy.
  2. Directs and assists patients through massage therapy interventions to assist with alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, sleeplessness, pain, muscle tension, circulation, stiffness, contractures, limited mobility, relaxation, and comfort.
  3. Performs gentle techniques to promote relaxation, using slow gentle strokes, passive movements and comfort touch. Addresses physical and emotional distress, with focus on comfort and alleviating pain.
  4. Utilizes interventions such as manual lymphatic drainage, aromatherapy, reflexology, and/or energy work if applicable. Maintains schedule and necessary records, e.g. clinical notes, charting, coordination notes, which will be incorporated into the patient's clinical record within 24 hours of session and modified as needed.
  5. Provides ongoing education to the clinical team of appropriateness and/or contraindications for treatment.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of clinical massage therapy experience
  • Successful completion of a massage therapy certification course
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including, but not limited to, Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current certification through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB)
  • Previous experience in home health, hospice or senior care environment.
