Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospice is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for our Inpatient Unit on the night shift. You will perform skilled assessments, manage symptoms, administer hospice medications, and coordinate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient- and family-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active Virginia RN license.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience (hospice, medical/surgical, or community health preferred).
• Strong communication, organization and clinical assessment skills.
• Comfort with EMR and technology.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Heart for mission-driven, relational work with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing assessments, interventions, and symptom management for hospice patients in the inpatient setting.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospice protocols.
• Monitor and document pain and symptom control while ensuring patient comfort and dignity.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate individualized plans of care.
• Provide emotional support, education and guidance to patients and families.
• Supervise CNAs and support the delivery of compassionate personal care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in IDT meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing education.
