Job summary

Tidewell Hospice, part of Empath Health, is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide to support patients in southwest Florida. The role covers weekday hours (Mon-Fri, 8a-5p) with coverage across Manatee/Sarasota counties.

You will assist with basic personal care, vital signs, and household tasks while educated families in daily living and care practices. Requirements include Florida CNA certification and CPR; hospice/home health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Florida CNA certification is required
• CPR certification is required
• One year of hospice/home health or acute-care experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide overall patient care, including vital signs, personal care, and light household tasks
• Educate patient and caregiver about personal care and daily living activities
• Report unusual conditions to the nurse or supervisor promptly
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to scope of practice

Monday-Friday, 8a-5p, Manatee/Sarasota county coverage area

What You’ll Do:

• Overall care of the patient, from basic personal care like taking vital signs and bathing to household tasks that assist the primary caregiver.
• Educating the patient and primary caregiver about personal care, patient positioning and daily living.
• Supports and carries out the organization’s mission, vision, and values on a consistent basis.
• Performs only those personal care/home maintenance activities contained in a written assignment (Hospice Aide Plan of Care) by a health professional employee.
• Recognizes and reports unusual conditions, incidents or behavior of a patient and/or patient/family interaction to the patient’s nurse or supervisory nurse.
• Recognizes the role of the Hospice Aide and works within that scope of practice at all times.
• Maintains utmost respect for confidentiality in care of the patient/family.
