Job summary

Gentiva Hospice is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide/CNA to provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients in home and hospice settings. The role emphasizes comfort, dignity, and emotional support for patients and families.

The ideal candidate holds an active CNA license in the state of employment, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation. Recent direct patient care experience and a patient-centered approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Active CNA license in the employing state is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance are required.
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience is required.
• Comfort working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long-term care environments.
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations.
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
• Support safe mobility with walkers/work with wheelchairs.
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping.
• Observe and report changes in patient’s physical or mental condition.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits.
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
• Practice infection control and follow safety protocols.
