Job summary

Caris Healthcare is hiring a Chaplain/Volunteer Coordinator to support the hospice interdisciplinary team through spiritual care and office functions.

Responsibilities include spiritual assessments, care planning, and providing comfort to patients and families at end of life. The role also involves coordinating volunteers, community clergy connections, and bereavement support, with after-hours on-call coverage in the Southeast region.

Qualifications

• Master Degree of Divinity, Religion or Theology required.
• CPE: one unit preferred; Georgia requires 1 CPE
• Hospice or related field experience preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Completes and documents ongoing spiritual assessments, interventions, and outcomes related to patient and family
• Communicates significant spiritual needs of the patient and family to the hospice interdisciplinary team related to terminal illness, impending loss, and bereavement.
• Conducts visits with patients and caregivers in their residential setting
• Connects patients and caregivers with community clergy and/or spiritual leaders as needed to meet diverse spiritual needs
• Assists with bereavement support and interventions for caregivers following the death of a patient
• Participates in an on-call rotation to make after hours visits when needed for a patient’s death, funeral, admission, spiritual crisis, etc.
