Job summary

Circle of Life hospice seeks a Chaplain to assess and address the spiritual needs of patients and families within a diverse cultural context. The chaplain coordinates services with hospice staff and community clergy, and provides funeral planning and bereavement support.

They may lead trainings on end-of-life issues for healthcare providers. The role emphasizes attending to spiritual beliefs respectfully, delivering care across cultures, and supporting families through bereavement and funeral

Qualifications

• 1 unit of CPE with expectation of completing 4 units within 2 years
• 5 years related experience and/or training; prior healthcare chaplaincy experience required
• Must read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Valid driver's license, personal auto and current auto liability insurance
• Satisfactory results from TB test
• Knowledge of death, dying and bereavement preferred

Responsibilities

• Assess spiritual needs of hospice patients and families
• Coordinate spiritual services through hospice staff, local religious organizations, or community clergy
• Provide funeral services when requested and assist family with planning
• Provide bereavement support
• Assist with public speaking/trainings on spiritual issues, end of life concerns, hospice care for other health care providers
• Respect diverse cultures and religious backgrounds
