Job summary

Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, AR, seeks a chaplain to join the interdisciplinary team on a Monday–Friday schedule with rotating on-call coverage after hours. The chaplain will assess spiritual needs of patients and families, coordinate services with staff and clergy, and provide bereavement support.

The role includes facilitating funeral planning, public speaking on spiritual issues, and support for staff training in hospice care. English communication and CPE experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 unit of CPE with expectation of completing 4 units within 2 years.
• Must have 5 years related experience and/or training; prior healthcare chaplaincy experience required.
• Exceptional listening skills.
• Knowledge of death, dying and bereavement preferred, as well as experience with end of life issues and hospice services.
• Able to read, write and communicate face to face and by phone effectively in English.
• Requires computer skills; prior experience using electronic health systems preferred.
• Satisfactory results from current TB test.

Responsibilities

• Assess the spiritual needs of hospice patients and families.
• Coordinate spiritual services offered through hospice staff, local religious organizations or community clergy.
• Provide funeral services when requested and assist family with planning.
• Provide bereavement support.
• Assist with public speaking and training on spiritual issues and end-of-life care for others in healthcare.
