Job summary

Zenith Hospice Care is seeking a Chaplain to provide spiritual care in the home for terminally ill patients and their families. You will assess spiritual needs and offer counseling to address them, and you will help arrange visits by local clergy and other spiritual supporters while participating as a core member of the IDG/IDT.

The role requires travel to patient homes and other facilities, with emphasis on compassionate, patient-centered care and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity preferred.
• One year of chaplain experience in healthcare preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills and knowledge of community spiritual resources.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license if using personal vehicle.

Job Summary:

• Primary function is to provide spiritual care in the home to terminally ill patients and their families.
• To provide an assessment of the patient’s and family’s spiritual needs and to provide counseling to meet those needs.
• Makes reasonable efforts to facilitate visits by local clergy, pastoral counselors or other individuals who can support the patient’s spiritual needs. Participates as a core member of the Interdisciplinary Group/Team (IDG/IDT).

Job Qualifications:

• Education: Master of Divinity preferred.
• Licensure: Not Applicable.
• Experience: One year of experience as a Chaplain in a healthcare institution preferred.
• Skills: Working knowledge of community spiritual and other resources. Good interpersonal skills.
• Transportation: Reliable transportation. Current auto liability insurance and driver’s license if personal vehicle is used for work.
• Environmental and Working Conditions:
• Works in patient homes and other healthcare facilities under various conditions. Occasional exposure to infectious diseases; ability to travel locally; may have some exposure to unpleasant weather.

Physical and Mental Effort:

• Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting required. Requires working under some occasionally stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/family needs, must be able to make quick decisions; functions as a facilitator to meet patient/family spiritual needs.
