Responsibilities of a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant

• Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager and function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
• Help the patient with personal hygiene and maintaining a safe environment.
• Assist in meal preparation and feeding as needed.
• Assist with ambulation and safe use of mobility aids.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks.
• Assist with treatments as ordered and allowed by regulations.
• Promote patient’s mental alertness and provide emotional support.
• Report changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary team.
• Practice infection control and document visits accurately.
• Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.

Requirements for Hospice Aide/CNA

• Compassionate, kind, and empathetic nature.
• Comfortable providing care in a home setting.
• Flexibility and composure during crisis support.
• Current CNA license.
• Six months of relevant patient care experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Current CPR certification.
