Job summary

Gentiva Hospice is seeking a dependable Hospice Aide/CNA to provide personal care and emotional support to patients at home, in facilities, or inpatient units. You will assist with daily activities, monitor health changes, and document visits for the care team.

The role requires compassion, independence, and adaptability to different home settings, with opportunities for growth and comprehensive benefits including healthcare options and PTO.

Qualifications

• Active CNA license in the state of employment.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance.
• At least six months of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility using walkers and wheelchairs
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping
• Observe and report changes in patients' condition
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families
• Maintain accurate documentation of visits
• Attend team meetings and participate in QA activities
• Practice infection control and safety protocols

Essential Functions

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients

• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families

About You

Qualifications – What You’ll Bring:

• Active CNA license in the state of employment (Required)
• Current CPR certification (Required)
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance (Required)
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience (Required)
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long‑term care environments
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs

Preferred Background (Not Required):

• Experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, or oncology
• Prior roles in hospital nursing, ICU, geriatrics, med‑surg, ER, telemetry, or nursing homes
• Exposure to end‑of‑life care, wound care, or admissions support
