Role and Responsibilities

As a Hospice Aide / Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

• Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
• Help the patient maintain good personal hygiene.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Prepare and serve light meals and assist with feeding when needed.
• Assist in ambulation and the safe use of mobility aids like walkers or wheelchairs.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as trash removal and linen changes.
• Assist with treatments as ordered and permitted by state regulations.
• Promote patient’s mental alertness through engagement in activities.
• Provide emotional and psychological support.
• Report changes in patient condition or home situation.
• Demonstrate basic care to primary caregivers.
• Practice infection control and standard precautions.
• Complete accurate documentation and participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

About You

• Compassionate, kind, and empathetic towards patients and families.
• Comfortable providing care in the patient's home environment.
• Flexible and able to maintain composure in crisis situations.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• Six months of patient care experience preferred, especially in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatrics, or oncology.
• Current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
• Current CPR certification.
