Job summary

Amedisys Hospice is seeking a compassionate hospice aide to support patients at home in Elizabethton, TN. The role involves personal care, safety, meal assistance, and light homemaking under the plan of care.

Required CNA certification, CPR, High school diploma, and a valid driver's license. Prior CNA experience and reliable transportation are preferred. You will join a nationally recognized home health provider with benefits and ongoing growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant (CNA) as per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics in personal and supportive care tasks.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient's status to the nurse.
• Follows written care instructions provided by a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
