Job summary

TruHeart Hospice in Tulsa, OK seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). The ADON partners with the Director of Nursing and Administrator to lead day-to-day clinical operations and ensure compassionate, compliant end-of-life care.

The role combines clinical leadership, staff mentorship, quality oversight, and regulatory readiness, with hands-on patient care when needed.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted RN license in Oklahoma.
• Two years nursing experience preferred.
• Hospice, home health, palliative care, long-term care, or post-acute experience preferred.
• Previous supervisory or clinical leadership experience preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across the service area.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing with oversight of hospice clinical operations.
• Provide leadership and clinical support to RNs, LPNs/LVNs, hospice aides, and other team members.
• Assist with patient-care coordination, staffing, and visit coverage.
• Review clinical documentation for completeness, accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings and ensure plans of care are current.
• Assist with admissions, recertifications, routine/PRN visits, and other patient-care needs.
• Monitor patient condition and support symptom management and end-of-life care.
• Assist with hospice eligibility reviews in collaboration with clinicians.
• Support orientation, education, competencies, and ongoing staff training.
• Participate in QA/PI activities and regulatory readiness.
• Assist with infection control, incident reviews, and corrective actions.
• Promote timely communication among patients, families, facilities, physicians, and team members.
• Provide after-hours coverage and on-call support as assigned.
• Lead in the absence of the Director of Nursing and foster a positive team culture.
