Bartlett Tree Experts is seeking an entry-level Horticulturist to join the Research Lab and Arboretum in NC. You will gain practical field experience, working with a team of horticulturists and botanists on plant care, nursery management, and conservation projects.

The role emphasizes on-the-job learning, safety adherence, and career development within Bartlett's culture. Applicants should be prepared for outdoor work and physical tasks, with opportunities for professional advancement.

Qualifications

• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors is a must.
• Comfort working outdoors in year-round Carolina weather.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of horticulture, including:
• Plant ID
• Proper and responsible pruning
• Planting and re-potting techniques
• Properly maintaining an ever-developing plant nursery and greenhouses
• Caring for our extensive, rare, and endangered plant collection
• Assisting our crew of Horticulturists and Plant Conservationists with ongoing projects
• Assisting with inventorying our growing plant collection
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
