Job summary

The Lewis Group in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced Horticulture Technician to join our landscape maintenance, restoration, and design team. You will test soil, inspect sites, and collaborate with the design team to select plants suited to soil type and client expectations.

Candidates with 3+ years of horticulture experience and CPCO certification are preferred. The role requires outdoor work in varied weather, valid driver's license, and a commitment to safety and quality across sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed, especially with large equipment or hazardous materials.
  • Inspect sites before action plans and after completion to evaluate work quality; meet with clients to review work and identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Ensure the goals of the client and the company are met.
  • Provide clear communication to customers to ensure understanding of needs and timely responses.
  • Maintain site appearance to meet Lewis Property Services standards.
  • Safely operate, store, and use branch equipment.
  • Assist with landscape maintenance, restoration, and design.
  • Install and cultivate functional and ornamental plants.
  • Transplant and prune shrubs and small trees.
  • Weed landscape beds and assist with mulching.
  • Identify and treat pests or diseases and provide plant care guidance to the team and clients.

Description

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Horticulture Technician. We provide landscape maintenance, restoration, and design services to a variety of clients. In this role, you will test the client's soil and inspect the land area, then collaborate with the design team to determine the best plants that should be used throughout the garden or planting area based on soil type and client expectations. We prefer candidates who have at least three years of professional horticulture experience and are CPCO certified.

Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all safety procedures are being followed, especially when large equipment or hazardous materials are involved.
  • Inspect all sites (before developing action plan and after to evaluate work quality) as well as meet with clients to review work and provide enhancement opportunities.
  • Ensure that the goals of the client and the Company are met.
  • Ensure customer confidence and understanding of the needs. Provide appropriate and immediate response.
  • Ensure that job site quality and appearance meet client and Lewis Property Services standards.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, storage and use of branch equipment.
  • Assist with landscape maintenance, restoration, and design
  • Install and cultivate functional and ornamental plants
  • Transplant and prune shrubs and small trees
  • Weed landscape beds and assist with mulching
  • Identify and treat potential pests or diseases
  • Provide plant care advice to other team members and clients
Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPCO Certification required
  • Experience in landscaping or working with various types of plants (3-5 years preferred)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
  • Eye for detail
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in severe weather conditions both hot and cold.
  • Ability to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor 50-70% of the time.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to moderate noise levels.
