Kansas City Power & Light District is seeking a Landscape Technician to care for plants, shrubs, and trees, as well as design new gardens and manage field operations across a mixed-use area.
The position requires a high school diploma and two years of landscape maintenance experience, with a focus on safety and aesthetics. Candidates must be adaptable and possess strong organizational skills. A valid driver’s license is mandatory to operate company vehicles.
A Landscape Technician is responsible for caring for plants, shrubs and trees, as well as other foliage in gardens. The role may also include designing and installing new gardens and peripheral building structures such as walkways, bridges, or walls. The Technician manages field operations within an eight-city‑block area of mixed‑use retail, office, entertainment, and residential developments, ensuring proper use of resources, equipment, and materials to maximize work completion.
Landscape Technicians must be capable of standing, walking, kneeling, and crouching for long periods, carrying heavy stones, slates, bags of fertilizer, grass seed, and other items used in landscape care and design.
Employees may work in a busy, noisy environment that requires excellent organizational, time management, and stress management skills to complete the required tasks. Exposure to all outdoor elements is expected.
