Job summary

Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School District in Danvers, MA seeks a licensed Horticulture Teacher to lead program areas in Career Technical & Agricultural Education. Knowledge of hydroponics, greenhouse and orchard management and hardscape installation is preferred; bilingual abilities are a plus.

The role requires DESE licensure, a bachelor’s degree with plant-science credits, and compliance with CORI/SAFIS/DCFSORI checks.

Qualifications

• Licensed or licensable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 credits related to plant science.
• Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS, DCF Central Registry, and SORI.
• Bilingual preferred.
• General OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred, but required within three years of employment.
• OSHA Train-the-Trainer certification preferred, but required within five years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Map each grade curriculum to the State Frameworks.
• Provide instruction in the content in accordance with the Massachusetts Vocational-Technical Frameworks.
• Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
• Instruct students in the field when participating in outside projects.
• Document student performance, student behavior, and student achievement within the career education setting.
• Provide review and reinforcement of new concepts; support students in completing tasks.
• Demonstrate knowledge of students’ IEPs and accommodations; modify assignments in collaboration with special educators.
• Develop resources for students such as models, organizers, notes, videos, demonstrations.
• Collaborate with teachers within the department and across disciplines.
