Job summary

Elmhurst Park District in Elmhurst, IL seeks a Parks Specialist II - Horticulture to maintain the Conservatory, gardens, natural areas and park landscapes, bringing seasonal displays to life for the community. You will care for greenhouse plants, trees and turf, supervise seasonal staff, and perform general maintenance to support the Wilder Park Conservatory and surrounding spaces.

The role is full-time, with Monday–Friday 6:00am–2:30pm hours and additional weekend snow/water duties, plus a

Qualifications

• High school or trade school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experience in parks maintenance or landscape contracting.
• A State of Illinois Pesticide Operator’s License and Class “C” driver’s license are required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain greenhouse, conservatory, gardens, natural areas and park landscapes.
• Care for garden plants, including planting, watering, fertilizing, soil amending, edging, pruning and deadheading.
• Provide tree and shrub care, including planting, watering, pruning, mulching and removal.
• Provide turf care, including mowing, trimming and edging; snow and ice removal.
• Train and supervise seasonal staff.
