Job summary

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is offering a 12-week, paid Horticulture Intern program designed to expose students to ornamental horticulture, hydroponics, interior plantscapes, organic gardening, agronomy, and resort grounds operations.

You will gain hands-on mentorship while rotating through ornamentals, hydroponic production, interior plantscapes, and other disciplines, contributing to property projects and improving landscape quality for guests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Current second- or third-year student enrolled at an accredited college or university in horticulture or plant science, agricultural science, landscape architecture, hospitality management, or a related discipline.
• Continuous authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to adhere to established appearance standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and installation of annual horticultural displays.

As a Horticulture Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across ornamental horticulture, hydroponic food production, interior plantscapes, organic gardening, agronomy, and resort grounds operations, while seeing how thoughtful cultivation contributes to both the beauty of the property and the culinary experiences enjoyed by guests. What You Will Create

• Exceptional landscapes and seasonal experiences by contributing to the design and installation of annual attractions, helping transform the property through thoughtfully planned horticultural displays that complement the resort environment
• Fresh, property-grown ingredients for resort dining by supporting the production and harvest of produce cultivated for restaurant outlets, connecting horticultural craftsmanship directly to the culinary experience
• Beautifully maintained gardens and outdoor spaces through hands-on care, developing an understanding of the precision and consistency required to maintain a luxury property
• Healthy, productive organic gardens by contributing to watering, pruning, transplanting, weeding, seeding, harvesting, and sanitation practices that support successful vegetable production
• Thriving interior landscapes by caring for interior plants throughout the resort and helping preserve the polished, welcoming environments that guests experience across the property
• Thoughtful plant health and sustainability practices through exposure to Integrated Pest Management and industry-leading maintenance techniques, equipment, and horticultural practices
• A well-rounded foundation in resort horticulture by rotating through key areas of the department, including ornamentals, hydroponic food production, interior plantscapes, and additional horticultural disciplines
• Accurate horticultural records by maintaining waterlogs and plant maintenance documentation that support consistent care, informed decision-making, and long-term plant health
