Job summary

Dinklage Feedyards in Torrington, WY is seeking a Cattle Care on Horseback worker to monitor cattle, identify illnesses, and provide humane treatment while riding daily through pens.

Experience of at least one year is preferred. The role includes maintaining facilities and assisting with cattle shipping, sorting, and herd management, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Candidates will care for their own horses and follow all company safety policies as part of a collaborative feed yard team.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Rides a horse through pens daily, making sure to ride every pen assigned for the day.
• Identifies sick animals including cattle with pneumonia, lameness, digestive issues, circulatory complications, strays, med-holds,and/or any other abnormal behavior, and removes sick cattle from pen for treatment.
• Inspects every water tank, pen, fence, and gate daily and reports any issues to supervisor.
• Reports any subtle changes in cattle to supervisor so the appropriate course of action can be taken.
• Maintains doctoring facilities, horse barns, and horse pens cleaning water tanks, and maintains overall cleanliness of all facilities.
• Responsible for proper care and nutrition of own horses.
• Focuses on being a team player, willing to complete additional tasks or assist in other departments and areas of the Feed Yard.
