Job summary

Cobalt Cattle Company LLC in Kansas seeks a Pen Rider to identify sick cattle and administer appropriate treatment, while ensuring safety and humane handling during daily cattle movements.

You will ride on horseback to inspect cattle, pull animals for evaluation, and maintain horse and tack. The role requires OSHA compliance, occasional nights/weekends, and the ability to work in extreme weather. High school diploma or GED and horsemanship skills preferred; feedlot experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, or 1-3 months related experience.
• Adequate horsemanship skills.
• Experience with sick cattle in feedlot setting preferred.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours and in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

• Review daily agenda for cattle movements.
• On horseback, inspect cattle and decide which to pull for evaluation and treatment.
• Evaluate pens for retreatment or movement to home pens.
• Notify personnel regarding dead cattle and repairs needed.
• Maintain horse, tack, and feed inventory.
• Comply with OSHA/Safety procedures.
• Assist with moving strays and shipping cattle as required.
