Hook Truck Driver

USA Waste & Recycling is offering a sign‑on bonus of up to $3,000, depending on experience.

Position Summary

The Hook Truck Driver safely operates heavy‑duty trucks and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting containers to disposal sites, transfer or recycling facilities, and customer locations. Hook Truck Drivers will navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, and high‑traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on industrial routes. Highly skilled maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.

Your Role
  • Operates vehicles according to the Company's Safety rules, Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA), and the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
  • Performs pre‑and post‑trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
  • Immediately report any unsafe situations or service‑related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by the Company.
  • Works closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Positions and/or returns containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids and/or doors are replaced and does not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follows route assignments as directed and completes end‑of‑day documentation and the checkout process.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by the Route Manager or Dispatch and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

Desirable Requirements
