6 Degrees Search is seeking an experienced Honing Technician / Precision ID Machinist to join a trusted manufacturing client. The role focuses on setting up and operating manual honing equipment to produce components meeting tight tolerances and superior surface finishes.

You will read blueprints, select honing stones, measure parts with micrometers and calipers, and collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to hit production goals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual honing machines.
• Produce components to extremely tight tolerances (up to 0.0001–0.0002 inches).
• Hone aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics, and specialty alloys.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, dial bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Verify quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to meet production goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Compensation

Starting at $32.00+/hr (based on experience)

Position Summary

The Honing Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating manual honing equipment to manufacture precision components that meet exact dimensional tolerances and superior surface finish requirements. This position requires strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to inspect parts using precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual honing machines

• Hone aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics, and specialty alloys
