Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Honing Technician / Precision ID Machinist to join a leading manufacturing client in Connecticut.

The role focuses on setting up and operating manual honing equipment to produce parts within tight tolerances and with excellent surface finish. The candidate will read blueprints, select tooling, and inspect parts with precision measuring tools, while collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to meet demanding production

Qualifications

• 1+ years of honing or precision machining experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with extremely tight tolerances.
• Strong understanding of machining practices, shop mathematics, and metal properties.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Experience with SUNNEN honing equipment.
• Continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual honing machines.
• Produce components to extremely tight tolerances (up to 0.0001–0.0002").
• Hone aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics, and specialty alloys.
• Select proper honing stones, abrasives, tooling, and fixtures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, dial bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Verify quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to meet production goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

We are searching for an experienced Honing Technician / Precision ID Machinist to join one of our valued manufacturing clients. Compensation

Starting at $32.00+/hr (based on experience)

Position Summary

The Honing Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating manual honing equipment to manufacture precision components that meet exact dimensional tolerances and superior surface finish requirements. This position requires strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to inspect parts using precision measuring equipment.
