Job description

Expected Salary: $24 to $28 per hour

Brief Description

Entry Level Position. Hone Machinist is responsible for producing work meeting the drawing specifications and requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Completes set-ups with supervision/assistance.
  2. Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance within allotted time, as a Level I machinist.
  3. Performs and maintains accurate in-process quality inspections and records.
  4. Identifies and recommends process improvements that reduce part quality variation as you learn.
  5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience, Capabilities, and Success Factors

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn all phases of part operation set-up on various Hone equipment.
  • CNC/Technology/Machinist trade school certification is a plus.
  • Ability to learn to use Air Indicators, Dial Bore Gages, Deltronic pins, profilometers, and plate inspection methods, including first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
  • Ability to maintain required finishes and close tolerances (within .0002-.0005") of I.D's, OD's, roundness, perpendicularity, and concentricity.
  • Some understanding of machine tool accuracies, size offsets, tool pressures, and required tooling.
  • Some knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and optimal tool life for aerospace materials.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprints and quality requirements in English.
  • Effective communication skills with employees and management.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).
  • Experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma is ideal.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and minimal unscheduled time off are essential.
  • Stable work history.
