Position Summary

Support Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build, repair, and sell homes by providing critical support, resources, and information for low-income applicants, homebuyers, and homeowners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage homeowner application process including responding to questions, verifying income, evaluating applications, preparing reports for the IVHFH Board of Directors, and coordinating with applicants on site visits.
  • Meet Habitat for Humanity International standards and ensure IVHFH is compliant with fair housing and fair lending laws.
  • Convene and lead Homeowner Services Committee by setting meeting times, preparing and delivering meeting packets, and completing action items following meetings.
  • Orient and support applicants and future homebuyers on requirements for IVHFH’s Homeownership Program, including explaining requirements to remain in strong financial position, sweat equity and partnership expectations, and recording updated financial information.
  • Deliver regular communications to homeowners and clients including formal letters, maintenance reminders, and resources available for low-income households.
  • Collaborate with staff, members of the IVHFH Board of Directors, and community partners to support unique needs of IVHFH homeowners.
  • Assist Executive Director by coordinating with homebuyers, financing partners, and legal offices during closing process.
  • Support outreach team by coordinating meetings with future homebuyers and IVHFH staff.
  • Collaborate with IVHFH staff, members of the board of directors, and committee volunteers to pursue strategic plan objectives.
  • IVHFH is a small nonprofit organization and other roles and responsibilities will be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.
  • Willingness to accept challenges, eagerness to learn, work in collaboration, and take ownership of various projects.
  • Skilled in professional writing with a focus on clarity. Strong proofreading and editing capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Meticulous administration with excellent organizing skills.
  • Complete Qualified Loan Originator training within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and ability to integrate social media with communications.
  • Embrace and celebrate the unique backgrounds, skills, challenges, and strengths of IVHFH homebuyers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and coordinate, track, and prioritize multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with IVHFH’s applicants, buyers, and homeowners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with staff, volunteers, and homeowners.
  • Compassionate and culturally responsive with the ability to respectfully engage in well-considered discussions with groups from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Demonstrated project management skills: organized, collaborative, thorough, and flexible.
  • Ability to work independently but also to join others and collaborate in a team.
  • Comfortable receiving open and honest feedback and willingness to make necessary changes to meet project expectations.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and ability to travel in the surrounding geographic area.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends, when needed.
  • Ability to speak Spanish, Arabic, French, or Swahili preferred, but not required.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Higher education preferred, but not required.
  • Relevant experiences in serving vulnerable populations and/or loan origination.
