Job summary

Community Family Advocates seeks a Homeless Shelter Site Worker to support winter shelter operations and assist people experiencing homelessness. Tasks include setting up/breaking down the site, inventorying supplies, and helping with intake data entry.

Shifts run five per week during the winter season; duties include food service, coordinating transportation, and working with the Shelter Site Lead to ensure a welcoming, safe environment for guests.

Homeless Shelter Site Worker Shelter Staff

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the operation of the winter shelter site and support to people experiencing homelessness who are utilizing the shelter service.

Responsibilities

Support the operation of the winter shelter site and to help meet the needs of persons experiencing homelessness who are staying at the shelter.

This position is responsible for the tasks involved in operating the winter shelter site, including:

• Setting up and breaking down the shelter site daily, including placement of mats/cots, cleaning of mats/cots, moving and inventorying shelter supplies, etc.
• Assisting with the shelter intake processes, including data collection and data entry into the County’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
• Assisting with the coordination of transportation services to and/or from the shelter site.
• Serving and distributing food to shelter guests
• Supporting the Shelter Site Lead, Shelter Director and relevant partners in shelter guest de-escalation and other client engagement efforts, as needed.
• Along with the Shelter Site Lead and Shelter Director, working to creating a welcome environment for all shelter guests.

Schedule

• Position to begin November 18through Mid-March
• Available for five shifts per week.
  • The shelter will be open seven days per week. First shift from 5:30PM-1:30AM, second shift from 1:00AM-9:00AM.

Location

• This position reports in person to 2610 Maple Ave, in the North SIde of Pittsburgh.

Compensation and Benefits

• $25an hour
