First Day Homecare - Michigan is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to perform skilled pediatric nursing tasks in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and the Nurse Practice Act, under physician orders.

The role involves 2:30p–8:30p shifts for school-aged children, with care plans, medication administration, and collaboration with the care team. Recruitment emphasizes family-centered, compliant, and safe care delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current license to practice as an RN in the state of operation (Michigan).
• Current CPR certification.
• Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Licensed driver with automobile insured per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care as defined in the state Nurse Practice Act and client care plan.
• Performs nursing tasks under physician orders and agency policies.
• Maintains client orders and documents changes in the medical record following procedures.
• Provides pediatric nursing care including activities such as tracheostomy care and ventilator management as needed.
• Administers medications and monitors client responses per orders.
• Collaborates with the client’s care team and coordinates care with other providers.
• Promotes client safety and a safe environment for clients and coworkers.
• Participates in agency meetings and adheres to policies and accreditation standards.

Job Summary

Performs skilled nursing functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and within the guidelines of professional standards and the Nurse Practice Act. All nursing services provided will be under the direction of medical practitioner (MD, DO, NP, PA, etc.) orders.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care as defined in the state Nurse Practice Act.
• Provides care in accordance with medical practitioner orders and the client's care plan.
• Maintains orders for clients and documents all changes in orders in the medical record following Agency procedures.
• The scope of clinical practice includes personal care services, monitoring and reporting findings, medication administration, client teaching, emergency intervention, and specialized pediatric services such as tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and tube feedings.
• Works collaboratively with other members of the client’s care team.
• Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients and coworkers.
• Performs job in compliance with Agency policies, procedures, and applicable payor and accreditation standards.
• Participates in the coordination of care and attends Agency meetings as requested.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
