Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Home Visitor to conduct visits within families' communities, focusing on the health and development of young children and supporting parents and caregivers with trauma-informed, curriculum-based approaches.

The role involves advocacy, service coordination, and full fidelity implementation after training in the Parents as Teachers program, aimed at promoting self-sufficiency and healthy family dynamics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Education, Human Services, or related field and two years of experience working with children and/or families in diverse communities.
• Minimum of two years' experience working with low-income families with children birth through five in their homes.
• Bilingual preferred (Karen, Hmong, Somali, or Spanish).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing with a variety of people.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Home Visitor position conducts visits within a family's community, focusing on optimizing the health and development of young children. This position works with parents and caregivers to provide support, advocacy, and service coordination using trauma informed and curriculum-based approaches. Outcomes will foster self-sufficiency, prenatal care, positive parenting and family dynamics, health and wellness, family safety and child development. The Home Visitor is responsible for completing full training on the evidence-based Parents as Teachers program and implementing the home visits in full fidelity.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Education, Human Services, or related field and two years of experience working with children and/or families in diverse communities.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience working with low-income families with children ages birth through five in their homes.
• Bilingual preferred (Karen, Hmong, Somali, or Spanish).
• Demonstrated ability to understand and work well with families of young children challenged by economic and personal problems from socially diverse backgrounds and with other professionals.
• Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing with a variety of people.
• Maintain a valid driver's license, current car insurance, and use of personal vehicle for agency business.
• Knowledge of experience in case management and client advocacy preferred.
