Job summary

Lutheran Community Services NW in Lakeview, OR, is seeking a Home Visitor to join the Relief Nursery team at A Family Place. This full-time position (1 FTE, 37.5 hours weekly) provides intensive home visiting, resources, and crisis support to highly stressed families.

You will maintain a 15–20 family caseload, document accurately, and collaborate with staff and partners to keep children safe and families together.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• 1 year of related experience working with families with multiple risk factors.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Basic mastery of business applications (MS Office).
• Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in challenging settings.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with staff, interns, volunteers, and partners to support the mission.
• Maintain a caseload of 15-20 families with complete documentation.
• Conduct home, community, and site visits and provide crisis support when needed.
• Communicate developmental goals and progress to families.
• Provide planned respite care as lead teacher and ensure inclusive practices.
• Advocate for families and coordinate services with community partners.
• Apply diversity, equity, and trauma-informed care in all interactions.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, and trainings.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

This Position is located in Lakeview, OR.

All LCSNW team members will contribute to our mission of partnering with individuals, families and communities for health, justice and hope. The Home Visitor will provide parenting information, resources, and support to highly stressed parents as a member of the Relief Nursery team at A Family Place. This involves providing intensive home visiting services, group facilitation as needed, and eventually being a lead staff member in providing regular respite opportunities for families In Lake County. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a full-time Position at 1 FTE (37.5 hours per week), which requires the ability to work some evening hours.

• Work collaboratively with staff, interns, volunteers, and community partners to support the mission of keeping children safe and families together.

• Maintain a caseload of 15-20 families, ensuring complete and accurate documentation, including releases, medical information, and emergency contacts.

• Conduct home, community, and site visits, which may include transporting families to and from community resources (in personal car) and AFGP events; assess child development using evidence-based tools, provide resources/referrals, and deliver crisis support when needed.

• Communicate developmental goals and progress to families, model positive interactions, and promote problem-solving skills.

• Provide regular planned respite care as lead teacher and ensure inclusive practices for children with disabilities. (this will not start right way as we do not have a classroom in lake county)

• Advocate for families and coordinate services, including representing AFGP at community and IFSP meetings.

• Apply principles of diversity, equity, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed care in all family interactions.

• Participate in professional development and supervision, attending meetings, trainings, and weekly reflective supervision sessions with the Program Supervisor.

HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

• Candidates must be 21 years of age or older
• 1 year of related experience working with families with multiple risk factors and knowledge of the community.

• Associate’s / Bachelor’s / master's in early childhood or related field

• ORO Step 9 or bachelor's degree in early childhood or education. Credentials may be required depending on individual program or location requirements.

• Fluency in English, both spoken and written

• Basic mastery of business applications and productivity suites

• Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.

• Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle

• Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations

• Successfully completes tasks in a moderately noisy environment

• Interacts with others and performs tasks in-person and through the use of technology, with moderate periods of stationary activity and moderate periods of increased physical activity
• Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 40 pounds; may be responsible for moving/carrying children weighing up to 40 pounds in emergency situations

• Travels between worksites regularly; responsible for transporting clients in personal and/or agency vehicle, which requires valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and motor vehicle records clearance

• Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, client home/community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith-based settings such as churches
• Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program, must be enrolled in the Central Background Registry (CBR), Oregon Dept of Early Learning and Care Registry
