Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a detail-oriented pharmacy technician to join our Home Infusion team. Under pharmacist supervision, you will assist in handling, preparation, compounding and distribution of medications, and support sterile compounding operations.

A strong candidate will adhere to local policies, support teammates, and pursue continuous improvement. Requires a High School Diploma or GED, Indiana Pharmacy Technician licensure or in-training status, and certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or ASHP/ACPE program.
• No criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills under supervision.
• Ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and execute customer service skills.
• Typing and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
• Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing medications for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions.
• Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
