Job summary

Kona Medical Consulting is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to join the Home Health team across locations in Texas. The PTA works under a licensed Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans, guide patients through exercises, and ensure safe, effective recovery.

Ideal candidates have an accredited PTA degree, home health experience, state licensure as required, and strong communication skills to educate patients and families while maintaining HIPAA compliance and a safe therapy

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program (accredited) is required.
• Must have prior home health experience.
• Licensure or certification as required by the state of employment.
• Familiarity with therapy equipment and techniques.
• Strong communication, empathy, and patience when dealing with patients of various ages.
• Ability to lift and support patients and stay active throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and mobility techniques.
• Use specialized equipment to aid in patient recovery and rehabilitation.
• Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions.
• Communicate with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of therapy goals.
• Educate patients and their families about at-home exercises and techniques for continued recovery.
• Prepare therapy rooms and equipment for patient use.
• Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment.
• Report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Record accurate notes on treatment provided and patient progress.
• Adhere to healthcare regulations, privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA), and safety protocols.
