Job summary

CARE FIRST HOME HEALTH CARE INC is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to provide patient-focused physical therapy services in home health settings under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. You will follow the physician's plan of care and work toward restoring function while managing pain and improving mobility.

The role requires graduation from an accredited PTA program, current CPR certification, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
• Current CPR certification as required by state law.
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and organization skills.
• Licensed driver with a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of the physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
• Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
• Utilizes physical agents including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
• Observes and reports to the physical therapist and organization personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
• Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
• Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes, incorporated into the patient’s clinical record.
• Participates in organization Home Care Team Members meetings and Organization Inservice Education Program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
