Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatment and provides exercise instruction and patient education aimed at improving/enhancing the patient's well-being while following the established plan of care.

• Responsible for following all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care, adhering to the treatment plan set only by the supervising PT; performing only procedures qualified and trained for; and making recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition. Coordinates care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other healthcare team members in therapy within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in New Jersey
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
