Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatment, provides exercise instruction, and patient education aimed at improving the patient's well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care; perform only procedures qualified and trained for; make recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and assist patients with active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within the scope of practice of the PTA.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in New Jersey
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation or public transit
