Qualifications

• Holds a current Occupational Therapy License.
• Graduated from an occupational therapy curriculum or eligible for national exam.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• One-year clinical experience; home health preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and human relations skills.
• Able to function with minimal supervision.
• Able to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
• Able to employ critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Assesses clients using age-appropriate norms and development principles.
• Formulates care plans with client and supervisor and physician approval.
• Identify unmet client needs and refer to appropriate disciplines.
• Educate client/caregiver to enhance self-care abilities.
• Plan and deliver services cost-effectively in home settings.
• Provide OT services as prescribed by a physician in the home.
• Report client responses to treatment to physician or supervisor.
• Use skills to retrain or teach compensation for functions.
• Guide client in therapeutic activities to improve function.
• Improve ROM, strength, and coordination of upper extremities.
• Provide sensory/perceptual motor training when needed.
• Provide splints or equipment to improve function and independence.
• Instruct client/family and other health staff in OT program use of devices.
• Develop maintenance and environment-adaptation plans for ADL skills.
• Document assessments, interventions, and client responses per policies.
• Use electronic documentation timely; participate in case conferences and discharge planning.
• Supervise and evaluate OTAs and HH Aides; provide additional supervision as needed.
• Adhere to federal/state regulations and agency standards.
