Job summary

Stella Maris Inc. provides compassionate home health care to central Maryland, helping adults adapt to medical needs at home.

The Authorization Coordinator joins our Home Health team for a full-time role, primarily Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with responsibilities in insurance authorizations and coordination. In this role you will obtain authorizations, notify patients of coverage changes, document information in the EHR, and collaborate with clinicians and billing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in home health preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and track authorizations for home care, including pre-authorization and extensions.
• Coordinate follow-up with third parties to ensure authorizations are obtained.
• Perform monthly insurance eligibility and benefits checks.
• Document billing information in the electronic health record.
• Maintain knowledge of payer authorization requirements.
• Promptly answer incoming calls and route appropriately.
