Cass County is seeking a Part-Time Home Health Aide to support home-based care for clients in Minnesota. Qualifications

Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist in providing home care services of home health aides, homemaking, and respite to patients of all ages in their homes. Home health aides and respite providers direct hands-on care of activities of daily living and homemaking tasks, including instrumental activities of daily living care, which is indirect care.

WORK PERFORMED/JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists patients with activities of daily living including: personal care with bathing, hair care, skin care, foot care, hand care, dressing, feeding, mouth care, toileting, and non-sterile wound care under direction of supervision of a nurse; assists patients with physical activities like range of motion, therapy exercises, positioning, transfers, and ambulation under the direction of a nurse or professional therapist. Assist patients with instrumental activities of daily living, including basic housekeeping tasks of meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleaning such as dishes, kitchen, and bathrooms in patients’ homes. Ensures that the patient takes self-administered medications. Effectively document weekly progress notes of tasks completed during home care services and timesheets, and meet timelines for paperwork required. Be punctual and maintain a work schedule throughout the day. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge regarding home health aide and personal health-care practices, principles, and limitations; data practices and confidentiality; health conditions of clients that impact care provided; aging process and accompanying behavior changes; emotional problems accompanying illness; principles of home management; elements of nutrition and meal planning; first aid skills, including CPR and home safety; and vulnerable children and adult reporting laws. To establish and build effective working relationships with clients and supervising nurses, to remain objective in monitoring the overall well-being of patients, to effectively and efficiently communicate with superiors concerning health care planning and well-being of patients, to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, to accept and adapt to varying lifestyles and home environments of patients, and to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

MINIMUM TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, OR CERTIFICATIONS: Requires Home Health Aide Certification, which demands 75 hours of education under the Minnesota Department of Health-approved curriculum; or Nursing Assistant Certification under the Minnesota Department of Health-approved curriculum, and the ability to complete the competency evaluation for Home Health Aide within 30 days of hire per MN Statute 4668.030 Subd. 3. Preferred currently on the Nursing Assistant Registry and a high school degree or its equivalent. Must pass background check requirements. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Sedentary to light physical activities requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and close vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds. Typically, in an office environment.

HOURLY RANGE: $24.97- $32.68
