Job summary

Municipal Credit Union is seeking an Assistant Manager of Home Equity to oversee daily HE lending operations, coach a high-performing team, and ensure regulatory compliance. The role partners with senior leadership to improve processes, manage staffing, and uphold service standards for members.

The position emphasizes leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to mentor staff while driving efficiency and risk controls in a fast-paced lending environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of lending operations experience with 2-3 years in supervisory roles.
• Experience supervising lending staff, providing coaching, training, and performance oversight.
• Knowledge of Home Equity lending regulations including closing documents, title, lien recording, funding and disclosures.
• Skilled in underwriting with Portfolio and FNMA guidelines; including use of compensating factors.
• Ability to operate in high-volume environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Technologically proficient with lending software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Home Equity Lending unit and support departmental objectives.
• Supervise and develop Home Equity staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and support.
• Collaborate with VP of Residential Lending on staffing, employee relations, performance management and training.
• Facilitate team communication and engagement through regular meetings and proactive updates.
• Support process improvements, workflow enhancements, and operational practices to improve efficiency and customer service.
• Monitor Home Equity/HELOC operations, updating procedures to meet regulatory requirements and standards.
• Ensure adherence to loan policies and update documentation in the loan operating system.
• Review vendor contracts and make recommendations; provide information for new releases to Internal Lending Procedures.
• Provide pipeline updates and assist with First Mortgage Processors/Closers as needed.
