AlphaX RE Capital is seeking an experienced Accounting & Financial Reporting professional (AL Homes Inc. subsidiary) to lead GAAP reporting, multi-entity accounting, and project accounting for a growing residential homebuilding and real estate development company in California.

This role emphasizes robust cost controls and scalable financial processes. The ideal candidate will oversee month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and intercompany transactions while partnering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years progressive accounting/finance experience in homebuilding or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with job costing, WIP, project accounting, land development accounting, and construction accounting.
• Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Construction, Development, Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, cash management, month-end and year-end close.
• Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Manage multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidation.
• Oversee accounting for land acquisition, development, construction, and home sales.
• Manage project-level accounting, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and construction cost tracking.
• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, commitments, and variances.
• Partner with Construction, Development, Design, Sales, and Operations teams to improve cost controls and project profitability.
• Analyze project financial performance, margins, cash flow, and return on investment.
• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare financial analysis and management reports for senior leadership.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, project funding, and capital requirements.
• Provide financial insights to support land acquisition, development, construction, and investment decisions.

About the Role

This position is employed by AL Homes Inc., a subsidiary of AlphaX RE Capital. We are seeking an experienced Accounting & Financial Reporting professional to lead accounting, financial reporting, and project accounting for a growing residential homebuilding and real estate development company. This role oversees GAAP reporting, multi-entity accounting, job costing, WIP, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, while partnering with cross-functional teams to strengthen cost controls and project profitability. The ideal candidate has strong homebuilding, construction, or real estate development accounting experience and can build scalable financial processes and controls.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, cash management, month-end and year-end close.

Oversee preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Manage multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidation.

Homebuilding & Development Accounting

Oversee accounting for land acquisition, land development, construction, and home sales.

Manage project-level accounting, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and construction cost tracking.

Monitor project budgets, actual costs, commitments, and variances.

Partner with Construction, Development, Design, Sales, and Operations teams to improve cost controls and project profitability.

Analyze project financial performance, margins, cash flow, and return on investment.

Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.

Prepare financial analysis and management reports for senior leadership.

Monitor cash flow, working capital, project funding, and capital requirements.

Provide financial insights to support land acquisition, development, construction, and investment decisions.

Compliance, Audit & Tax

Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other financial partners.

Support tax filings, audits, lender reporting, and other regulatory requirements.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Lead and develop the accounting team.

Establish scalable accounting processes and reporting systems as the company grows.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency, automation, and financial controls.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably within homebuilding, residential real estate development, construction, or a related industry.


• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.


• Demonstrated experience with job costing, WIP, project accounting, land development accounting, and construction accounting.


• Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting.


• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.


• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems.


• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.


• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


• Ability to work cross-functionally with Construction, Development, Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA preferred.


• Experience with residential homebuilding or single-family residential development strongly preferred.


• Experience with land acquisition and development accounting.


• Experience with Newstar, JD Edwards, Sage, Yardi, or other real estate/construction accounting systems is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position is $170,000 to $220,000per year. The actual salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and specific skill sets, in accordance with California laws.
